Do I need an appointment to take a road test to obtain my driver’s license at the DMV?

  • Proof of ID such as a birth certificate
  • Signed form MV3001 from the driving school where you are enrolled for Behind the Wheel
  • Signature of parent, step-parent or adult sponsor
What do I do when I complete my classroom course?

We are automatically notified once you complete your classroom course. If you are enrolled with behind the wheel with us and are already 15, we will automatically send you a signed MV3001 permit slip (DO NOT go to the DMV to take your permit test before receiving your signed MV3001 permit slip). Please allow a minimum of 48 hours from the time you complete your classroom training until you receive your permit slip.

If you are not enrolled for behind the wheel with us, we will contact you to inquire about whether or not you plan to enroll in behind the wheel with us or another driving school.

  • If you enroll with us, we will send you a signed MV3001 after we receive your enrollment.
  • If you plan to enroll with another driving school, we will submit your classroom completion to the DMV and send you a classroom completion certificate, which you will need to present to the driving school you plan to take behind the wheel through.
How do behind the wheel sessions work?

Our behind the wheel sessions are scheduled in 2-hour increments. Students are paired with another student and each student will drive for one hour and observe for hour. Students must complete six behind the wheel sessions.

Do I need any paperwork from Bumper to Bumper upon completion of Driver Education?

No, you do not need any paperwork from us. We submit your classroom and behind the wheel completions online so the DMV will look them up when you go take your road test to confirm you have met the requirements.

What do I do after I receive my instruction permit?

Once you receive your instruction permit, please contact us and let us know. YOU WILL NOT BE ADDED TO THE DRIVING SCHEDULE UNLESS WE RECEIVE CONFIRMATION FROM YOU THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR PERMIT. Once you notify us, you can expect your first drive time in 2-4 weeks.

How often will I have behind the wheel lessons?

We try to space out drive times so students have a chance to practice during all the different seasonal conditions so you can expect to have lessons about once a month. However, if you need to complete your lessons at a faster pace, please let us know and we will work to accommodate your schedule.

When do you offer drive times?

We offer drive times on both weekdays and weekends. Please let us know days and times that work best for you and we will work to accommodate your schedule.
